BIG moves by Amy today. 💪

• Her initial swing path was Out-to-In 7+ degrees (see clubhead placement in image #1) creating a slice resulting in loss of distance.

• Drill/Feel (image #2) - With the use of an alignment stick hanging over the golf ball this forces the player to swing underneath the stick without hitting it = better swing path

• Result (image #3) - Clubhead in a much better position in the downswing, approaching the ball more from the inside actually resulting in a DRAW 😎

Arguably the best drill in all of golf and requires the use of no training aids or golf balls 😳

What makes this drill so great?

Most golfers struggle to get out of the sand due to poor setup OR inconsistent low point control 👎

REMEMBER…

• The ball is not interacting with the clubface on a greenside bunker shot. The more we can practice striking the sand in the same place more often than not, results will follow with more success 🚀

• IF we setup the same each and every time (line drawn in sand in the MIDDLE of stance) and we strike that line with precision THEN having the golf ball 1-2” in front of that line guarantees we will get out EVERYTIME!

🚨 MISCONCEPTION ALERT🚨

• You do not need a wide open clubface to get out of the sand. Sand wedges have more than enough loft to get out of your everyday sand traps without laying them wide open.

• Build your consistency and confidence first THEN experiment with slightly opening up the clubface more and more each time.

Shot #1️⃣ - “Bump & Run” 👊🏃‍♂️

• Ball back in stance
• Hands pressed towards front leg
• Weight forward
• Hold shaft lean throughout your follow through

Shot #2️⃣ - “Stock Chip Shot”

• Ball middle of stance
• Neutral handle
• Weight forward
• Limit hands/wrists, swing club with shoulders/chest

Shot #3️⃣ - “Flop Shot” 😈⚠️

• Ball forward in stance
• Open clubface
• Hinge wrist and let clubhead pass hands through impact resulting in your club ending up in the holster 🔫🤠

I can’t believe this happened but I guess I deserved it when I asked him to do this. 😂😂😂

Chris battles early extension with his front foot actually lifting off of the ground as he is tries to hit the golf ball. ⬆️

Because he is jumping up off the ground, his hands take over and flip at the ball causing severe left misses. ⬅️

Do you struggle with a slice? 🤢

Watch how my client Michael completely transformed an “over the top” slicing golf swing into a beautiful and controllable push draw finding the center of the fairway. 😏

To start the lesson, his swing path was consistently 2-5* out-to-in (“over the top”).

In the downswing we needed to have Michael feel…

• His left hip slide towards the target

• His right shoulder drop lower down (“right side bend”)

• His club swing out towards 1 o’clock if his target was at 12 o’clock

• Pair that with allowing the clubface to release, he was well on his way to more consistent golf shots

Michael made enormous strides in about 30 minutes. His swing path ended up being a few degrees in-to-out to finish the lesson. 👏👏👏

Set up normally whether it be for a chip shot or full swing.

Throw down another ball that is closer to you, that when struck, original ball would not get hit.

If done correctly, watch those dreaded shanks disappear.

Fall in love with practicing your short game. It allows you a time to be creative while having fun.

By using one club you get to understand exactly how the ball reacts with different setups, ball positions, and swing styles. This will give you supreme confidence when faced with such shots out on the golf course.

Grab any type of ball and help combat your slice is with the use of this amazing drill. Doing it correctly will instantly improve your over the top swing path.

Do you dread when your ball ends up in a bunker?

Dread no longer. The game is easy when we focus on a process instead of a result.

This is one of the best drills in all of golf!

Do you have a herky/jerky motion as you are about to make contact with the ball?

The focus should be on rotating to your target.

Let that ball get in the way of a smooth, rhythmic golf swing.

This drill will help minimize wrist flip and help you with rotation.

Bump and Run Shot

- Lower lofted club
- Grip down
- Raise handle
- Smooth and even pendulum swing (visualize putter stroke)
- Ball with fly roughly 25% of total distance in the air and roll out remaining 75% to the flag
